Five on Friday -- 5 Random Facts About Me

Happy Friday! Sorry I have been so quiet. I was in the Dallas area this week for work and was SO busy. I have noticed a lot of new readers here so I figured I would share some random facts about myself today. Easy and fun right??

I am originally from the beautiful city of Charleston, SC. I miss Charleston a lot. I haven't lived there since 2012...which is crazy to me. I always thought I would live there but I guess that's what a boy you are in love with will do to you.

That brings me to my husband! He and I met in college (2009 to be exact). I was a senior and he was a sophomore. We dated for 3 years before we got engaged (Aug 2012) and married in 2013 (October).

Our first picture together...yes he had LONG hair.

And our wedding day! Almost 3 years ago!

We are OBSESSED with our dog Gopher. He is a lab we rescued when we first moved in together. Seriously, I don't know what we did before him. He is really our fur baby and brings so much joy to our lives. He came with his name, and we thought about changing it but it really suits him. He turned 7 this year.

I think I am a mix of extrovert and introvert. I love being with my friends and being loud & laughing with them but when it comes to new settings/people, I become a hermit. I like to stay home a lot of the time or just be with "my people" as I like to call them. This is probably not the best but I do think it keeps me grounded. I couldn't imagine being go go go ALL the time.

I am ADDICTED to Snapchat!!! Who else? Probably one of my most favorite things is following celebs and seeing how crazy their life is...or how much of a train wreck...you tell me.  Regardless, let me know your snapchat name and do follow me!!

I hope y'all have a wonderful weekend!!

Weekend Recap/Purchases!

Happy Monday! We are over here recovering from nasty Texas Ragweed. It is seriously wrecking us. Brian stayed home today because he has had it bad and has been a sneezing coughing mess! Friday night I helped my neighbor friend get ready for her son's birthday party! Lord have mercy! She went all out. The theme was Hot Wheels. It was cute and the party wore us out on Saturday.

After the party, I hit up Nordstrom. They were having their triple points through Sunday so I went and browsed. I picked up these sunglasses and just LOVE them. I had a Nordstrom note so I ended up getting them for $30 bucks!

I also got some Laura Mercier make up items. I was on the hunt for a Fall blush and got this one in Violet Orchid. I also picked up a new lipstick in 'Brown Sugar' + 2 liners!

While I was picking up a gift for my sister's birthday, I tried on this hat...I am in love but sadly not with the price...maybe a Christmas present?

Sunday was spent cleaning, getting ready for the week, & hiding out from the rain. It has been in the low 70's today! I LOVE IT. However, it is short lived I know.

I am off to Dallas tomorrow (Tuesday) for work for 3 days. Anything I need to check out?? Send recs my way. Hope y'all have had a great Monday so far!

Five on Friday // Links + Loves //

Happy Friday ladies! I hope y'all have had an awesome week. This has been my first full week since end of August. I have had 2 Monday's off for back to back weeks. Good to get back into a rhythm though. Let's jump right into Five on Friday this week. I thought I'd share some links + loves this week to keep things simple.

Check out this Instagram account for all things beautiful.

Trying to figure out Fall portrait session outfits. I'm thinking neutrals.

Loving this lip gloss.

Thinking about running another half. Maybe this one? Any Austin runners want to join?

I love Jimmy Fallon.

PopSugar #MustHave Box

Hi friends! I wanted to share with y'all the POPSUGAR #MustHave box. It's a subscription box that is sent once a month with products valued at over $100. I got mine this month and it had a lot of fun goodies in it.

I got the following items in my box:
Jack & Lucy Bicoastal Wide Brim Hat
Mani ER Kit
BrioGeo Hair Repair Mask
Flint Lint Roller
Smith & Cult Lip Lacquer
Gluten Free Bites in Dark Chocolate & Coconut

I definitely ripped into the GF bites. And they were really good. My husband even liked them. And bonus: they are healthy. #winning

The Mani ER kit I will definitely keep as a mainstay in my purse. I ALWAYS have hang nails. Lint roller is always good to keep around, especially in your car. The nice thing about this one is it rolls down so there isn't any sticky reside exposed. I haven't had a chance to try the hair mask but I can't wait. My hair feels so brittle these days so I know it should help.

And don't even get me started on the Smith & Cult lip gloss. Like I NEED another lip gloss?! It is the prettiest pinky red. I can't wait to wear it out on date night.

The hat is cute. I don't wear hats much with my outfits (mainly because I don't think I can pull them off) but since they're so trendy this year and I got one in my box, I'll try it out.

You can use code 'SHOP5' to take $5 off your first box. You can use this  link to sign up for your first box. I love getting stuff in the mail that isn't a bill and these boxes are a nice change up from that. Are you already subscribing to POPSUGAR?

POPSUGAR sent me this Must Have box to try but all opinions are my own.

What's in my bag?

It's hump day ladies! Yesterday I thought it was the weekend not once, but twice. What a horrible feeling when it was ONLY Tuesday. But we're halfway through the week now. The weekend is getting closer.

I thought I'd share with y'all what's in my bag these days. I usually love carrying a big bag. However, I noticed when I do carry a big bag, I load it up with TOO. MUCH. STUFF. Do y'all do that? My bag becomes heavy, and really, a burden. Thus, I have been carrying a cross body & ONLY the necessities.

All my important cards + cash that I use on a daily basis in my card holder, a pen, one or two lipsticks or glosses, sunglasses, breath refreshers, oil absorbing sheets, hair brush & keys. And don't forget the phone!

If I used one of my larger bags, it would be stuffed to the brim with stuff. And sometimes, you do need a few extras like your planner, earbuds, and maybe like 3 or 4 more lipsticks. HA!

So what are your purse essentials? I love seeing what girls can pull out of their purse. It's like Mary Poppins sometimes!

Transitioning to Fall

If I've said it once, I'll say it again. Texas is HOT. It was in the 90's over the weekend. However, the first day of Fall is this week, Thursday the 22nd to be exact. I heard from another blogger how her mom always told her to dress for the season and not for the weather. Do you know how I interpret that? BOOTIES! Of course. With it being in the 90's still, I think pairing booties with jean shorts & a lightweight long sleeve shirt works. I got this shirt during the #NSale and probably should have gotten a small. Oh well. Word to the wise, it runs big.
With the temperatures being so hot & still wanting to dress somewhat Fall like, I'll still pull a long sleeve shirt out especially if we are going out at night. Restaurants are ALWAYS cold so something on your arms is always nice. This shirt is super comfy and I will be pairing it with leggings and flats whenever it does get cool here in Austin.

The booties paired with these boyfriend jean shorts make your legs look awesome in my opinion. My husband always loves this combo. Go ahead and gag. But a girls gotta keep our men happy right ladies??

This is really a simple outfit that you could wear out for a super casual date or running errands on a day where it's cold in the AM and warms up slightly during the afternoon. You could really dress it up with lots more jewelry & a clutch. I think a leopard clutch would be so cute!!

This is my first actual outfit post so take it easy on me will ya? My husband was a hoot while taking these. And we were running out of daylight hence the shots at our apartment. Hope y'all enjoyed!

Things look a bit different around here...

Well, I've changed the name of my blog & it has gotten a face lift. Hallelujah!! I introduce to you, "A Southern Perspective." I realized that I look at everything with a Southern mindset & always try to make things a bit more Southern. Thus, a rebrand, if you will.

I used Get Polished Creative, and she has been so easy to work with and talk about a quick turn around!! Thank you Chelsea!! She actually lives in my old city. So jealous.

I sure hope y'all enjoy it. Take a look around and let me know what you think. I love the look of simplicity but jazzed up.

I'll have an outfit post up tomorrow for y'all. Happy Monday!!

Five on Friday -- Random Thoughts

Happy Friday y'all!! I am so glad the weekend is here. We have been so busy the last couple weeks and this weekend we really have NOTHING planned which I am thankful for because we have something every weekend for the next couple weeks. Busy Busy Busy.

Since becoming Austinites almost a YEAR ago (how did a year pass so quickly?!), we decided that this year we would do the infamous ACL aka: Austin City Limits Music Festival. This is a 2 weekend event where lots & lots of musicians and bands come to play on the weekends. My biggest dilemma...what to WEAR?! Austin has a "Keep It Weird" mantra so I want to dress appropriately but not TOO weird. What should I wear?? Has anyone been to ACL before?? Let me in on your tips.

We have lot of birthdays and anniversaries coming up this month and next month. My mother in law's birthday is September 25th, B's birthday is October 6th, my sister's birthday is October 7th, my mom's birthday is October 22nd, and our wedding anniversary is October 26th. Good Lord, October is quite the month. Also throw in there 2 concerts (ACL & NeedtoBreathe). Busy I tell ya.

Who has a Fitbit? I am on my 4th one (3rd replacement). I have had a lot of trouble with mine just crapping out. I feel like a lot of people have this problem. I currently have the Fitbit Charge. I am thinking about stepping up to a Garmin running watch. Do any of y'all have one? Do you like them? Which is the best to get? I want something to keep my pace, mileage, etc. I think this Garmin is BEAUTIFUL.

I am obsessed with Snapchat. I find myself on it a whole lot more than Instagram these days. I have a few favorite ones that I love just because they are hilarious: Emma Hill (@ejstyle -- her British accent-LOVE!), @pipmegan, & @thedailytay. Megan & Taylor do a lot of blogger spoofs which I find hilarious because it is all ridiculously DEAD ON. If you aren't following them, do so. You will be sure to get a good laugh. Also, be sure to follow me too or let me know your Snapchat handle.

There will be some changes happening to my blog over the next week or so, so be sure to come back and take a look. I am REALLY excited about it and hope y'all will love it.

Hope y'all have a great weekend!!

Linking up with the ladies on Five On Friday.

Target...you are killing it!

I don't think I'm the only girl in America that is obsessed with Target. Seriously, Target just has EVERYTHING and it's all SO good. I just got their "Home Style" catalog in the mail for new Fall home decor & items. I. Want. Everything. Why Target? Why must you suck me in EVERY TIME?! I thought I'd share a few of the things I am wanting or better yet lusting over.

How CUTE is this pink chair
This would look so cute in a little girl's room I think.

I am wanting to switch out our coffee table and get something not so traditional.
I love this one!

I actually own 2 of these and really love them.
We have one on each of our bedside tables.

What is the look in your home? Currently ours is traditional, but I am wanting to switch it up and throw in some contemporary here & there. But then at the same time, I love the looks that Joanna Gaines throws together and that to me, is traditional.

Since we live in a tiny apartment, we have to be careful with what we are buying & adding to our home. If we aren't careful, we can really junk up our space which I do not want AT ALL. So small touches here and there are great. I can't wait until we are back in a house and can really dress up a space!

Hope y'all have a great Wednesday! Be sure to leave a comment or let me know what your fave items from Target are. It really does a good job of sucking me in all over....clothes, beauty, snacks, etc. The list is never ending!

Weekend Recap

Happy Tuesday!! Sorry for no post yesterday. Our friends in town had an early evening flight so we got the whole day with them which was so nice. I thought I'd share some iPhone pictures as I gather myself back together to face this week. I have a dinner meeting in San Antonio tonight with customers & some of our sales guys so that will be fun.
